Garden Linux

Garden Linux is a Debian GNU/Linux derivative that provides small, auditable Linux images for most cloud providers and bare-metal machines, built from a customizable feature set and designed as the node operating system for Gardener. Software; Apache 2.0, since 2020.

Garden Linux is the operating system underneath the stack: small, reproducible, auditable images. It is part of NeoNephos, a Linux Foundation Europe project.

  • Debian-based - A Debian derivative with a feature system that composes images per platform.
  • Auditable - A vulnerability database (glvd) tracks what each image contains.
  • Releases - 2150.11.0 on 23 September 2026, with maintenance lines alongside.
