Digital Product Passport Standards (CEN/CENELEC JTC 24)
Eight European standards, EN 18216 to EN 18246, define how the EU Digital Product Passport works horizontally: identifiers, data carriers, storage, exchange protocols, access rights, and an API for lifecycle management and searchability. For agents, they are how a product is addressed and found.
Where it stands
As of 2026-10-13, the Agentic Standards Map records:
Eight horizontal standards; six cited in the Official Journal of the EU according to the CEN-CENELEC page of 2026-07-15 (page re-read on 2026-10-13, unchanged); the two not cited are EN 18239 and EN 18246, and their status is not read. The Official Journal itself was not read: EUR-Lex answered HTTP 202 without content on 2026-10-13.
Why it matters to agents
The eight standards cover data exchange protocols (EN 18216), unique identifiers (EN 18219), data carriers (EN 18220), data storage (EN 18221), APIs for lifecycle management and searchability (EN 18222), system interoperability (EN 18223), access rights and security (EN 18239) and data authentication and integrity (EN 18246). Two concern how a product is addressed and found: “unique identifiers” (EN 18219) and “searchability” (EN 18222).
